Paddles Up!

Paddles Up!

Next week is the start of the Lake Bemidji Dragon Boat Festival which I’ll be racing in. In the spirit of the race I designed this art print, which probably will get printed next week some time. The tag “Paddles Up” refers to the call for paddlers to raise their paddles before the start of a race.

What else? I’m still trying to get my “toy” print finished printing. It seems like every time I make time to go and print something happens. Oh well, it’ll be finished soon, but no more 5 color prints for a while.

I’m trying to be in the Uptown Market on August 16, and I have my application in for No-Coast. Time to get showing again!

Inspired by a pile of toys

So our son has a lot of toys that have kind of taken over one corner of our living room. Last light while watching reruns of Jericho I was thinking that some of his toys might make cool still life images. So I gathered up a bunch of of his smaller toys and started shooting.

So then I took one of them to start and broke it down into primary colors to start to work it into a print like this

Clocks - in progress.

I’m still working on this one, I want to bring in some hand drawn elements into the print, and maybe play with the contrast, right now I’m not really married to the black halftones, it kind of makes everything muddy. More later on this.

Hidden Skulls

While I try and scrounge enough cash for a new power washer (my old got caught in a cold snap overnight and burst some of the seals) I’m working on some new ones. I did a similar print last year with a obscured skull under a unassuming illustration.

I took the plunge into Twitter too.

We're clean!

Withremote is now free of what ever it was that we had. I guess it was a 48 hour cold and not swine flu. Thank God that’s over with.

Good thing I had a little time to kill today, otherwise I might have missed that my Soul Asylum poster (First Avenue, December 2005) is the poster of the week at Gigposters.com. Thanks Clay!
