It's cold out side, time to make or break something.

Well, happy new year! If your like me, you’re relieved that 2009 is finally over and we can now move on to better things.

Today I was messing around with a SVG version of my Insane Sqiggle Machine program. Instead of using pre defined sprites, I made the program generate random polygons. I’m still going to tinker with it a bit (like figuring out how to not have the paths cross in the same shape, it happens about 25% of the time) and try out some of the other shapes that SVGs can create. Here’s a couple tests I ran tonight:

I think the combination of these hard lines and the hand drawn sprites might make some interesting generated images. More later.

New coloring book coming soon

Posted Dec 23, 09:13 AM

I’m working on a new coloring book that should be available in about a month, depending on my drawing schedule. I’ve been trying to do about 2 pages a night, and I have a goal of a 100 page coloring book, like the first one I made last winter.

I’ve been posting a lot of the pages to Flickr Here’s a few:

I have about 30 pages ago, I’m hoping by mid January I can finish it up and send it off to lulu.com for printing.

Sqiggle in action

Posted Dec 2, 08:45 AM

I recorded this the other night with my new Kodak Zi6. The drawing actually took about 30 minutes but I sped it up to 3 to show how it would be done if I was a robot. I have another one rendering that I’ll post later today.

There, I fixed it.

I made some color changes to the site, at least the blog/gallery side of the site. The merch side I’m going to maybe leave as-is for now to distinguish between the two parts of the site.

I Heart CMYK

Posted Nov 17, 01:18 AM

etsy-banner3.1I’ve started the process of transitioning my site to a brighter color pallet, which I’ll be rolling out very soon. In the mean time I’ve started to use my “I Heart CMYK” logo as my avatar on several sites (or at least the ones I can remember to change). I’ve been kicking around the “green machine” color scheme for a while, it’s time for a slight change.

For now go on over to spreadshirt and grab one of these.
